Software like ExplorerPatcher can break with new Windows Updates because the code for changing the taskbar style can change. You might be able to uninstall the latest quality updates power off your computer, turn it back on, and then power it off again. Repeat this process twice. After this, you should be in WinRE. Windows will probably say that it could not load up properly. If this happens, simply push "See advanced options". Push "Troubleshoot", and then push "Uninstall latest updates", and then push "Uninstall latest quality update". If you get asked for a BitLocker recovery key, you can find it
here
. Enter it if prompted, and then let Windows uninstall the latest update, and once it's done, you should be back to Windows and you should be able to type.
i absolutly hate updateing and completely avoid it at all possible.
lately an update has made windows 11 almost entirely unusable, ive spent all day today trying to figure out how to downgrade back to windows 10 (window f'ing unfocused while typing thanks pos os!!! also randomly opens desktop applications behind the browser when it does it) to only option of clean install.
1000's of issues with windows 11 spend 90% of my time diagnosing to meet its just too much effort to care with issues being even 3yrs old yet never patched and being upto 150 reason why it could be the issue and a handful of solutions are soo deeply rooting into windows 11 they are not possible to even modify from what i have read to correct the problem(s).
response: this update may be the issue of why my system is saying 90gb program is installed yet only able to find a 7mb folder with its data, when uninstalled the 90gb program no space was given back to the system on c drive.
the other issue that has arisen is windows 11 half the time or more now cant seem to find programs i have installed that i just opened 5 mins prior, the system says it is installed yet cant seem to find anything from the program, or if it sees it in the start menu it throws an error that it cant be found, even doing a manual search through explorer comes up with absolutly nothing at all for the program then 10 mins later it will decide to find it and launch it.
randomly spinning up mechanical drives even when system is completely idle, windows 11 is a mechanical drive killer from what i have experienced, locking up the entire system even when the os+program being used is on m.2 not the mechanical drive.
i have had to write multiple posts/reviews today of this size about my issues with windows 11 and am really tired of dealing with even 1 pc having widows 11 on it and its issues alone, i am used to managing many systems under windows xp/7/10 combined doesnt come close to the amount of effort to deal with this 1 os.
if i missed writting it, idk if this specific update has caused this new issue yet...
in my opinion windows 11 is 100% never worth using if you have the option switch to windows 10 DO IT!.

Let me know how this goes.
Random_One0113,
I have NO IDEA how your 1st method worked, but it worked BEAUTIFULLY!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! My laptop was in bad shape. Uptades would not install, everything was in slow motion, and the fan sounded like an old buggy with a bad muffler. It would take forever to open apps n files. After trying so many things from HP forums, Norton, rkill, Malwarebytes, and Fortect(?), today, I accepted defeat and priced a few replacements, but this evening, I happened to see this thread and decided to try your method, on a whim and instantly, like MAGIC, the fan WENT COMPLETELY SILENT, everything now moves like lightning, and FINALLY, my Windows update installed successfully. I have been struggling since AUGUST!
My laptop has become BRAND NEW. It's UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING. I AM TRULY GRATEFUL, keep up the good work. MANY THANKS AND BLESSINGS!
Glad to know this worked and that you got your problems figured out :)
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to let us know here or in a new thread!
Happy Thanksgiving!
What are the consequences of not installing Windows 11 Version 24H2? I have Windows 11 with all the "quality updates", Open Shell, EP and Winero Tweaker, Windows 11, version 24H2 will not install, and I get Windows Install error - 0xc1900209. I love my current configuration, and windows indicates there is something incompatible with installation of Version 24H2. Since January 29th, it constantly tries to install and asks me to "fix this problem." I am so tired of trying to install this update. I would prefer to just not do any more updates til maybe Windows 25 is out and has been vetted.
