Hi there, I have a basic Kindle (the entry model), with firmware updated to version 5.8.11 and a Dell Vostro 5470 laptop running Windows 10 64 bits version 1709.
I cannot make Windows recognize the device properly. It behaves as if I were constantly plugging and unplugging the USB cable all the time. The device briefly appears in Windows Explorer and quickly disappears. And it keeps doing that until I physically
unplug the USB cable. I already tried using either USB 2 or USB 3 ports, resetting the device, etc.
Generic troubleshooting was of no use. It used to work correctly with Windows 8.1 and now I have a fresh install of Windows 10. That's about all that changed.
Any official way of fixing this?
Help appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Seneika. I'm Greg, a volunteer installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.
Go to Settings>Apps and Features to look for Kindle software, click to Uninstall.
Restart PC.
Now go to the Amazon Downloads page to download and install the latest Kindle Software for Windows 10 here:

See if the Kindle is detected now.
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
Hi Greg,
Would really appreciate your help here. I am facing a similar problem for both my Kindle (Paperwhite and Fire HDX) and also my Garmin 520 Device. I have a Windows 10 Pro installed on my laptop and have all the windows updates installed. I have also tried
uninstalling all the USB drivers and then reinstalling them but the problem persists.
My Kindle and my Garmin devices are not recognized by Windows at all and no error message pops up as well.
