Samsung pulled no punches at this year’s Galaxy Unpacked as it rolled out the red carpet for the next generation of smartphones. The Galaxy S10 line got a full make over, sporting an all new punch-hole display, up to five cameras, and a suite of intelligent features powered by the Exynos 9820. While all the Galaxy S10 line up were the stars of the event, there was one device that excited everyone who desired to be the pioneer of the new 5G era, the Galaxy S10 5G.
Designed for those that want to explore the boundaries of new technology with both hands, the Galaxy S10 5G takes all the features of its siblings and super charges them with cutting edge connectivity and performance features.
The device represents a decade of pioneering development, during which Samsung worked closely with network operators, device manufacturers, and software developers to make 5G a reality with a complete end-to-end solution. As one of the only companies to offer an end-to-end 5G solution, including chipsets, network core, radio solutions, and mobile devices, Samsung is positioned to lead the market and bring consumers an entirely new mobile experience with the most advanced network available. Here’s an up-close look at how the Galaxy S10 5G and the Exynos are paving the way for the future of smartphone computing.
Hyper-fast Streaming
Streaming console-like games from the cloud, binging your favorite TV series without buffering, or broadcasting your daily vlog live in UHD are no longer mere pipe dreams. The Galaxy S10 5G puts the unrivaled power, speed, and connectivity of 5G right in your hands. With speeds up to approximately 20 times faster than 4G networks, consumers can enjoy streaming, broadcasting, and enhanced AR and VR experiences with virtually no lag. It’s all thanks to the Exynos Modem 5100 under the hood.
The Exynos Modem 5100 supports 5G NR spectrum bands for fast, reliable connectivity. The modem also supports up to 256-QAM, enabling more bits of data to transfer over the network. The modem’s advanced beam forming technology also allows signals to overcome many of the environmental challenges that affect communications including building density and large crowds. So, whether your live broadcasting from the comfort of your home or from a crowded downtown festival, the Galaxy S10 5G with the Exynos Modem 5100 gives you a steady connection every time.

Complementing the modem are the Exynos RF 500 radio frequency transceiver and Exynos SM 5800 supply modulator. The Exynos RF 5500 supports both legacy and 5G NR networks on a single chip while the Exynos SM 5800 features dynamic voltage adjustment that delivers better power efficiency for better battery life.
Six Pro-Grade Cameras
The Galaxy S10 line took full advantage of the Exynos 9820’s advanced image signal processor (ISP) with support for five cameras bolstered by intelligent performance. On the Galaxy S10+, the dual front facing cameras are complimented by a 123° Ultra Wide, a 2x optical zoom Telephoto, and a Main lens on the back, each enhanced by artificial intelligence delivered by the neural processing unit (NPU). The Galaxy S10 5G takes it a step further by adding a sixth 3D Depth Camera.
The impressive suite of cameras earned
the Galaxy S10 5G the top spot in DxOMark’s camera rankings
, the most trusted independent testing standard for mobile image quality. The rear camera’s photo and video capabilities were ranked number one, earning an overall score of 112, and individual scores of 117 for photo and 100 for video. It also earned DxOMark’s top selfie ranking for its front-facing camera with an overall score of 97, and individual scores of 101 for photo and 90 for video. The impressive scores are bolstered by a set of incredible photo and video features.
Tapping into the potential of the Exynos 9820, the Galaxy S10 5G upgrades the camera with an advanced ISP and NPU that help you get the perfect shot every time. The 3D Depth Camera accurately provides depth information by measuring the length of time for a light signal to bounce off your subjects. It allows Live focus video to bring your filming to the next level by adjusting the depth of field to achieve the out-of-focus bokeh effect. In addition to Live focus video, the 3D Depth Camera also supports the Galaxy S10 5G’s Quick Measure, which can measure the length of objects.
