I like filezilla muchly, but, I keep getting this error, while trying to upload files to a webserver. I let it keep retrying and eventually it works.
Not sure if this is because of a setting in the client, or a problem with the server, or what... I have tried many other FTP clients and they all upload fine with no errors
. But I'd much prefer to use filezilla.
I am running XP pro, with Filezilla version 3.1.1.1.
I also keep getting "Error: Connection timed out" - my upload is only 128kbps but I close down all other programs etc. nothing is saturating the bandwidth..

So I set the ports to 8800-8880 in Filezilla, forwarded these ports on my router, and ran the Wizard again. This time, "TEST" gives me this:

But I am still getting the error:

I do not have any other hardware firewalls or routers. I have disabled, and now completely uninstalled my software firewall. I do not have access to change anything on the server, but it works fine with other FTP clients.
I don't have access to the server, it belongs to my ISP.. (it's not filezilla ftp server). Not sure how a setting with a router/firewall at the server end would cause problems with just one ftp client, and not any others?
Anyway, someone on another forum said they had the same problem, they downgraded back to to filezilla version 2 and no more problems... So I have uninstalled 3.1.1.1 and installed 2.2.32. I have uploaded 300 odd files so far since downgrading, with not a single error. So far so good!
Strange?
Same experience: FileZilla 3 gives that error, FileZIlla 2 does not.
My FTP host is Comcast. In FZ3, if I specify the subfolder I want, like "/images", it then works and displays a listing.
I installed FZ2: https://netid.northseattle.edu/remote/w ... _setup.exe
It works great. I specified a different install folder, ...\FileZilla2. Then I renamed the Start Menu Folders and Shortcuts with the version number. I have both versions running, but why would I use FZ3, when it fails, and FZ2 works fine?
The Aggravated part is the time I wasted upgrading and having it work for only a few weeks.
(Makes me think if I had less files in the root, it might work, but why? I could experiment by cleaning it up with FZ2, but I almost ran out of patience just joining this forum to make this post!)
