WebODM launch fail after being OK for months: Windows 10
Screenshot of too many retries message.
[NB first used late 2023 and OK for a while; then got same message and told to disable Norton. Did this but still had to reinstall WebODM (losing existing projects)]
How do I restart WebODM without reinstall? Have tried disabling Windows Defender but no help.
ALSO, the day before I had been running a job OK, but it had stopped after over a day, most of the way through. Last console output was
‘postprocessing face infos 94%…’
Is this related to later load fail?

(Ctrl+Alt+Del) - That goes to task manager in Windows 10, but not a help to me as WebODM not running - I am trying to get it to start but it will not - just fails with exceeded max retries.
So, how do I start it again? Am I missing something that should be obvious?
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks for suggestion, and always worth a try.
Unfortunately no help as just got exceeded max retries message again.
On a last WebODM relaunch retry, just before restart, I got the following:
On going to …resources/app there was:
(with a file date month before I started usin WebODM)
And on clicking main I got:
Any clues there?
Thanks for advice, but how do I do in-place reinstall?
Whenever I do a reinstall it sets up a new environment, overwriting the old files in place.
I have copied the old set to another directory, but do not know how to make the reinstalled WebODM use them.
I did try to copy all the old files back into the new ODM space, but that seemed to include whatever caused the launch failure.
thanks for that.
I guess it shows the magic(!) of being told by an expert!
My whole problem was that when I first lost WebODM loading and reinstalled, all my old projects disappeared.
Not this time!
Mmm… we may have suggested/asked you to do a Processing Queue Reset, which will do that, or perhaps you tried that on your own.
But yes, in normal circumstances, an in-place upgrade/repair install is perfectly safe, and is actually what the automatic update within WebODM does for you.
