Flexible learning options

You can choose an on-campus university lifestyle, study online and externally, or combine the two options. Within your degree, you also have the flexibility to enrol in a major from one discipline while broadening your knowledge by taking electives from other JCU disciplines.

JCU is a multi-campus institution with our main campuses in the tropical cities of Cairns, Singapore and Townsville. A Russo Higher Education-run campus in Brisbane offers courses for international students and we have study centres in Mount Isa, Thursday Island and Mackay.

Field work at amazing locations

JCU’s access to the most spectacular and diverse natural laboratories in the world offer advantages to you that cannot be overstated. Field site environments for research on coral reefs, tropical rainforests, coastal wetlands, woodland savannahs and the arid outback are all available in

our backyard. The university has field research stations available for field trips, study and research, including:

Entry Requirements:

Completion of an approved AQF level 7 bachelor degree in a discipline other than social work; or equivalent. Students must obtain a Suitability to Work with Children Card (which involves a criminal history check undertaken by the Queensland Police) before the start of the first placement and maintain currency of the same throughout their course.

Structure:

48 credit points. This course includes prescribed professional or clinical placements. Students may be required to undertake these placements away from the campus they are enrolled at, at their own expense. The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) also requires all students to demonstrate that they have attended 20 days of face-to-face, on-campus study during their course.
