ICC Chinese Moot and ICC Moot (English)
ICC Chinese Moot and ICC Moot (English) are two moot court competitions independent from each other. As both Chinese and English are among the official languages of the ICC, the Court supports the two moots in equal terms, and especially, the finals of both of the two moots are held in the courtroom of the ICC.
CIICJ organises the ICC Chinese Moot, the preliminary round of which takes place in China (Peking University, Beijing). Teams winning the first three places in the
preliminary round
will go through to the
final round
held at the ICC and compete for the championship.
。
The 2014 ICC Moot Court (English) is run by the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies, Leiden University, the Netherlands. The competition welcomes English-speaking teams from all over the world. However, due to the limit on the number of teams from one country or region, there will be a national round in mainland China (China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing), the winners of which will be able to participate in the
main rounds
and
semi-final rounds
in The Hague. The teams ranking at the first three places will then compete in the
final
held at the ICC.
Held independently and separately, the rounds in The Hague of the two moots differentiate from each other in terms of their nature and content. As a result, it is totally up to the university’s discretion which moot to register. According to Rule 32 of the ICC Chinese Moot, participating in both of the two moots does not constitute inappropriate behaviour of teams or students. Therefore, teams and students are free to register in the ICC Chinese Moot regardless of their participation in the ICC Moot (English).
