Part Description

LP96332-9 HIV 1+2 Ab+HIV1 p24
This test detects HIV-1 core protein, p24, antigen and/or HIV-1 groups M and O Ab and/or HIV-2 Ab in serum or plasma as one combined positive or negative result based on a signal to cut-off (S/CO) value of 1.00. The p24 antigen can be detected in HIV infected persons before seroconversion, thus reducing the window of non-detectability in early infection. Viral transmembrane proteins (TMP) are among the first to appear at seroconversion and remain strong throughout the asymptomatic and symptomatic stages of HIV infection. They are the principle target of HIV antibody tests. Source: Regenstrief Help Package Insert Regenstrief LOINC Example package insert. This LOINC code is not constrained to this specific product. Version 2.73
Change Reason
Updated system from Ser to Ser/Plas; The EIA method, which was always intended to cover more than just enzyme-linked immunoassay and whose display name for the long common name has always been Immunoassay, was renamed IA in order to eliminate ambiguity about whether the method has a broader meaning than just enzyme-linked immunoassay. Likewise, EIA.rapid was renamed IA.rapid. These changes were approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
